An automotive topcoat is a chemical solution applied to painted surfaces, making the paint job appear to have a glossy finish. While this can add to the overall visual appeal of the vehicle, the polymeric topcoat is subject to chemical and physical deterioration due to weather conditions and daily physical traumas that cause pits to form on the finish.
The pits that form on the topcoat from daily wear and tear are even more difficult to repair than an untreated painted car. Once the topcoat’s surface has experienced disruption of this nature, it must be sanded, removed and then reapplied in a uniform fashion.
