How to Stop Rust

Standard acrylic or water based pants do not tend to work as well when used on metal surfaces.  For painting metal you will need to use por 15 paint or another recommended metal paint brand.  These paints will not only ensure the metal surfaces become colored, but also prevent rust and corrosion.  Once you’ve purchased your metal paint, you will want to mix it thoroughly for several minutes.  This can be achieved with a simple rod, or through a paint mixer.  Using a primer will help the paint adhere to the surface.  Once the paint is mixed, begin painting.  Assuming your metal surface is not a wall or large flat surface, a brush is preferable to a roller. 

Be sure to let your paint dry for at least 24 hours before touching it.  Primers can also take some time to dry, but metal primers are often less than half an hour.

POR-15 is a high performance rust-protective, rust-preventive coating designed for application to metal surfaces that are already seasoned, sandblasted or have experienced rust.  Once applied, POR-15 will form a chemical bond with the metal, drying to a nonporous finish that won’t chip, crack, or peel, further inhibiting moisture from affecting the metal surface as well.

POR-15 can be used on cars, farm and marine equipment, and industrial machines.  Paint and putty can be used with POR-15, but it is vulnerable to UV exposure and will last longer if properly top-coated with appropriate paint.

Rust, if untreated, can quickly spread and literally kill your car. It isn’t something that can be ignored once it has appeared, and it can also be quite expensive to repair.

Rust is caused by moisture on the metal framework of your car. Even though all cars are somewhat protected by their paintwork, whenever you go out, your car suffers at the likes of pebbles and stones, that flick up, damaging the paintwork, causing little nicks to appear. These nicks then allow water in onto the bare metal, and that is when rust occurs.  Por 15 can prevent rust from setting in and destroying your car.

Rust is a general term for a series of iron oxides, usually red oxides, formed by the reaction of iron with oxygen in the presence of water or air moisture. Several forms of rust are distinguishable visually and by spectroscopy, and form under different circumstances. Rust consists of hydrated iron oxides, and iron oxide-hydroxide.

Rusting is the common term for corrosion of iron and its alloys, such as steel. Other metals undergo equivalent corrosion, but the resulting oxides are not commonly called rust. Given sufficient time, oxygen, and water, any iron mass eventually converts entirely to rust and disintegrates. The corrosion of aluminum is extremely slow because the resulting aluminum oxide forms a conformal coating, which protects the remaining aluminum. This process is known as passivation.

Rust prevention can occur with the proper products.
